What to Know About the Ingredients
Asparagus
Select asparagus spears that are approximately the same diameter. This will help the air fryer roasted asparagus get done at the same time. Large to extra-large spears, ½ to ⅝-inch diameter, cook better in the air fryer.
The asparagus tips should be tightly closed, and the spears bright green and blemish free.
The tough whiter ends of the asparagus should be snapped off before cooking. Hold the tougher end in between 2 fingers and with your other hand, use 2 fingers to hold the spear above the woody ends. Then, bend the stalk to snap the end off. The ends can be discarded or used in making stocks.
Oil
Use a high quality oil that doesn’t impart flavor. This grapeseed oil and canola oil are perfect for air fryer asparagus. Pure olive oil will also work.

You can stick to the basics - kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper are perfect. I often add some minced garlic or garlic powder because, well, what’s a recipe without garlic - especially air fryer asparagus!
